It's been just over 2 weeks since my husband had his second knee replacement surgery.  He's healing very well but still needs a bit of help.  Nearly every day has been taken up with trips to doctors or physical therapy.  

I've been missing my time in the studio and am looking forward to this weekend where, hopefully, I'll be able to get back into my painting routine.  Anyway, I got these sample paints from Chroma.  They are doing a test marketing of a new formula for their heavy body acrylic paints, and I can't wait to try them out.  These aren't the colors I would normally use in my work, so it should be interesting to experiment with a new palette.  I'll keep you posted on the results.

Lilypad Pond

We live in an area with lots of lakes and ponds.  Just behind our home is a small pond that is covered with lilypads.  I love walking along the edge of the pond to look at the great variety of plants that grow in or near water.  The lilypads are especially interesting.  Their leaves float on the surface of the water and catch the sunlight, reflecting it back in varying shades of color.  Painting intuitively allows images that are secretly stored away in my mind to emerge and express themselves in my work. 

Lilypad Pond measures 30"x24"x1.5". 

This acrylic painting on textured canvas is stretched on 1.5" deep wood bars.  The sides are painted in a lustrous gray/black Micaceous Iron Oxide.  It is signed on the side, dated and signed on the back.  The painting is wired and ready to hang, making framing unnecessary. 

A protective coat of clear acrylic varnish has been applied.

A signed Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Sand and Sea III

Sand and Sea III is part of a series of four paintings.  This painting measures 36" x 36" and is gallery wrapped on 1.5" stretcher bars.  The sides are painted in a gray/black Micaceous Iron Oxide, giving the piece a finished appearance that does not need to be framed.  Metallic gold paint gleams through the rich turquoise and rust colors in this textural work.   It is signed on the side, dated and signed on the back.  A clear acrylic varnish has been applied to protect and enhance the beauty of this work.  It is wired and ready to hang.
